About Peasy

Peasy is the operating system for independent CPG brands (the things you buy at a store, from food to home cleaning supplies). Running a CPG business today means juggling spreadsheets, disconnected tools, and guesswork across inventory, purchasing, production, and sales. We replace that chaos with one platform that integrates with the tools brands already run on, like Shopify and QuickBooks.

The software is 100% free. We make money on the payment transactions that flow through it. We have brands actively using the platform, lots of early traction, and $2M raised with 2+ years of runway. We believe Peasy can be a generational company in the mold of Toast: the operating platform for restaurants, valued at $25B and making 85% of its revenue from payments.

The Role

As our founding engineer, you'll work directly with the founders to shape Peasy's product, architecture, and engineering culture from the ground up. You'll own features end-to-end, make foundational technical decisions, and build the systems that scale us to thousands of users. Brands trust us with the operational backbone of their business, so what you ship has to be beautiful, performant, and rock solid.

What You’ll Do

Own feature development end-to-end, from prototype to production. Make foundational calls on architecture, infrastructure, and tooling. Help build Beacon and the AI-driven workflows at the core of the product. Deepen integrations with the systems brands rely on (Shopify, QuickBooks). Ship fast, iterate on real feedback, and establish the engineering practices and culture the team will grow on.

Basic Qualifications

• West Coast required. Seattle strongly preferred. We work best in the room together. U.S. work authorization required.
• 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience, shipping production systems with modern frameworks.
• Deep Next.js experience. Our entire app runs on Next.js (App Router) with React and TypeScript. This is the day-to-day, so you should be strong here, not just familiar.
• Solid SQL experience, plus building and consuming REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Strong product sense and a track record of executing quickly in ambiguous environments.
• Comfort working with LLMs.

Nice to have: experience with LLM/AI products (prompting, evals, agentic workflows—we use Anthropic and Codex APIs); payments/fintech (Stripe, Moov, Plaid); commerce/ERP/inventory software or building for SMBs; CPG or retail familiarity; prior 0→1 or founder experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $150K–$180K
