As the Data Science and Business Intelligence Director you understand the information needs for the business and you can drive insights to provide timely accurate, congruent and reliable information to all stakeholders.

The Role

Are you an experienced Data Science, Data Analytics, and Business Intelligence leader looking for a new challenge? This role provides an excellent opportunity to lead a team of Data Scientists and Business Intelligence Engineers, interact with all functional heads and clients, to satisfy the ever-changing information needs for the business. This role goes beyond traditional data reporting. It requires the leader to make sense of the big data in our data warehouse and proactively provide insights to the stakeholders and clients, unlocking future business opportunities and operations efficiencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive data strategy and collaborate with senior leadership to identify business opportunities and address them through data analysis
• Provide leadership and independent initiative to foster a collaborative and high performing work environment
• Collaborate directly with the business and IT Team to conceive and implement innovative and scalable solutions to satisfy various business challenges and objectives.
• Drive the creation of analytical models and dashboards that provides actionable insights to clients and all functional heads
• Manage reporting SLAs as agreed with all stakeholders
• Evaluate and implement cutting-edge cost-effective data modeling and analytical tools, technologies, and platforms to enhance data analysis capabilities
• Architect Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) design using AWS infrastructure and Python modules.
• Ensure integration of data from diverse sources, both internal and external, for a holistic view of business
• Participate in all new initiatives and advise on data collection points from future business information needs, driving new business insights.
• Develop, implement, and disseminate metrics/KPIs, profitability and outcomes including dashboards and data visualizations from all facets of our business.
• Engage with leadership and business stakeholders to quantitatively frame and proactively assess performance
• Partner with Data engineering, Support, and Product teams to understand gaps in and opportunities for instrumentation.
• Develop analytics to support executive briefings, and other executive level business reviews with the focus on delivering actionable insights.
• Build easy-to-use data products to support deep dives which identify drivers for business trends

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to communicate and influence across disparate groups and levels in the organization
• Bachelors degree in a discipline such as: Computer Science, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Applied Math, or related quantitative fields. Master's degree preferred
• Expert SQL skills, and 5+ years' experience in BI tools (e.g., Alteryx, Looker, Tableau, Mode, PowerBI. Experience in Looker is preferred although not mandatory)
• 5+ years' experience in Payment Industry is preferred although not mandatory
• 3+ years' experience in ETL tools
• 3-5 years' experience in leading teams
• 5+ years of demonstrated quantitative and qualitative data science/business intelligence experience with significant business impact.
• 5+ years of experience with detailed knowledge of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding.
• Possess a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills and business acumen
• Proven ability to conduct and/or lead multiple projects with minimal oversight
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Unquestionable personal and business ethics and integrity.

Nice to Have

• Experience with machine learning tools and Generative AI technologies is a definite PLUS!
• Healthy skepticism and curiosity - you don't take data at face value and strive for deeper understanding.
• Experience with Python
