Industrial Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Pre-Production Planning

• Prepare Operation Breakdown (OB) and Batch/Layout Plan for new styles.
• Conduct thread consumption analysis and prepare planning reports.
• Verify tech pack, trims, and raw material availability before bulk production.
• Coordinate with purchase and quality teams for approvals and readiness.
• Arrange and participate in Pre-Production (PP) meetings.

2. Work Study & Time Management

• Perform Time Study and calculate SAM (Standard Allowed Minute).
• Set production targets based on SAM and capacity.
• Maintain time study reports and update when methods change.
• Monitor actual vs standard performance.

3. Line Planning & Balancing

• Prepare line plans based on delivery timelines.
• Execute line balancing to ensure smooth workflow.
• Optimize manpower and machine allocation.
• Maintain constant unit efficiency across batches.

4. Method Engineering & Process Improvement

• Develop and implement best sewing methods.
• Simplify garment construction for better productivity.
• Plan workplace layout and ergonomics.
• Ensure availability of machines, folders, and attachments before style loading.
• Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen) initiatives.

5. Production Monitoring & Control

• Track Work-in-Progress (WIP) and batch-wise production status.
• Ensure production follows daily and monthly plans.
• Identify bottlenecks and take corrective actions.
• Maintain batch-wise and style-wise factory costing reports.

6. Quality Coordination

• Work closely with QA team on:
• Tech pack clarifications
• Measurement issues
• PP comments and approvals
• Ensure in-line quality checks during production.
• Support quality team to reduce defects and rework.

7. Efficiency Improvement

• Monitor operator performance and improve efficiency.
• Motivate operators through performance tracking and feedback.
• Implement method improvements to reduce cycle time.

8. Costing & Analysis

• Prepare style-wise, batch-wise, and monthly costing statements.
• Analyze production cost vs target cost.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction.

9. Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with:
• Production team
• Quality team
• Merchandising
• Purchase department
• Ensure smooth production flow and timely issue resolution.

10. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain:
• OB sheets
• SAM records
• Time study reports
• WIP reports
• Efficiency reports
• Revise SAM and layouts when there are method or design changes and get approvals.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of IE tools (SAM, SMV, line balancing)
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Proficiency in Excel / reporting tools
• Understanding of machinery, attachments, and garment construction
