Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.
Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.
Oura is seeking an experienced and highly organized Engineering Project Specialist (EPS) to support critical project operations that enable hardware product development and NPI execution. This role has two primary focal areas: supporting hardware prototype distribution operations across the company and with external partners, and helping operationalize the Engineering Project Specialist function to support NPI engineering development and builds.
In this role, you will help develop and run the processes, tools, and operating cadences needed to manage prototype shipping, inventory control, distribution, re-distribution, and chain of custody. You will also support the structure and coordination mechanisms that help engineering teams execute efficiently through prototype, EVT, DVT, and other build phases, including BOM readiness, design release tracking to vendors, and NPI material readiness. The role is highly cross-functional and execution-focused, partnering closely with Hardware Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Pre-Production Lab staff, Contract Manufacturers, Logistics, Privacy and Security, and external partners and suppliers.
This position will serve as a key operational partner to NPI teams by improving how builds are prepared, supported, tracked, and followed through, while ensuring prototypes are handled securely, tracked accurately, and moved efficiently across global origins and destinations. If you are a strong operator who can bring structure to ambiguous work, drive follow-through across stakeholders, and build practical systems that enable engineering development, we want to hear from you.
Note: Up to 20% global travel is required for this position. San Francisco in-office work is required.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate day-to-day prototype operations, including shipping, receiving, storage, inventory management, distribution, re-distribution, and final disposition.
- Maintain chain-of-custody controls to ensure prototype traceability, accountability, and secure handling across internal and external touchpoints.
- Support global coordination for prototype movement across origins and destinations, including logistics providers, external partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain inventory tracking mechanisms, reporting tools, and operating cadences that provide visibility into prototype location, status, history, and ownership.
- Support NPI engineering builds by helping develop EPS tools, templates, and operating cadences for engineering development and build execution across prototype, EVT, DVT, and validation phases.
- Build and maintain practical trackers, dashboards, workbooks, build support templates, and coordination mechanisms that improve execution, decision-making, and follow-through for engineering teams.
- Coordinate build readiness and execution with engineering team and vendors, including support for build planning, material and prototype readiness, issue tracking, logistics coordination, and action closure around NPI builds.
- Identify process gaps, shipment risks, inventory discrepancies, readiness issues, and execution blockers early, and support corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Provide hands-on support for in-office shipping, receiving, and prototype coordination activities as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of relevant experience in hardware project support, prototype operations, NPI build coordination, logistics, lab operations, supply chain operations, or related fields.
- Experience contributing to operational workflows, procedures, tools, or support models in a hardware development, lab, operations, or NPI environment.
- Strong project and project coordination skills, including the ability to work across cross-functional initiatives and multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with prototype shipping, inventory control, asset tracking, chain-of-custody processes, or similar operational systems.
- Strong ability to work across internal teams and external partners while driving clarity, follow-through, and accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate operational requirements into clear and actionable guidance.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and related collaboration tools.
- Strong spreadsheet capability, including the ability to build and maintain effective Excel and Google Sheets workbooks.
- Comfort with emerging AI tools and the ability to apply them thoughtfully to improve workflows, reporting, or team efficiency.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with contract manufacturers, logistics vendors, or other external operational partners.
- Familiarity with privacy, security, or controlled-access requirements for pre-release hardware.
- Background building reporting dashboards, audit-friendly records, or scalable operating systems for physical assets or build operations.
- Experience supporting a newly defined role, process, or team capability as it scales.
- Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Smartsheet.
