Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver - Class 1 and Farm Labourer to join our Cut flower operations. This role involves operating heavy farm machinery, transporting goods, and assisting with various farm-related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, be physically capable of heavy lifting, and have a passion for agriculture and machinery operation. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on sustainable farming practices and crop management.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 trucks for delivering our cut flowers from our farm to the lower mainland 3 days/week
- Assist with farm labour tasks including planting, weeding and harvesting cut flowers
- Perform routine maintenance on farm machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment for repairs and upkeep of farm infrastructure.
- Handle heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, or harvested crops as needed throughout the workday.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including storage facilities and machinery yards.
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and farm activities.
Skills
- 2 years experience with class 1 truck driving
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, power tools, and maintenance procedures.
- Experience with horticulture practices or general farming is preferred.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and prolonged periods of standing or walking across uneven terrain.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and routine maintenance techniques.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor and indoor farm environments under varying weather conditions.
This role is essential for maintaining efficient farm operations while ensuring safety and productivity across all tasks involved in crop production and machinery management. Pay will be on 2 different scales, 1 for truck driving duties and 1 for farm labourer duties
Pay: $20.00-$40.00 per hour
