Job Description
Job Title: Freelance Network Engineer / IT Technician (Event Contract)
Location: 235 Queens Quay W, Toronto, ON M5J 2G8
Pay: CAD $250/day + $30/day Per Diem
Payment Terms: Bi-weekly Contractor Payments
One World Rental is a global event technology and IT rental company providing IT infrastructure, networking, AV, and event technology solutions for conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, and corporate events worldwide.
We are currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer / IT Technician for an upcoming event in Toronto, Ontario. This is a hands-on contract role requiring strong networking and cabling experience.
Event Dates
- Friday, June 5
- Saturday, June 6
- Sunday, June 7
Applicants must be available for all three dates.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure Starlink internet systems
- Deploy and configure wireless access points
- Run and secure network cabling throughout the venue
- Terminate and crimp RJ45 connectors
- Test and troubleshoot network connectivity
- Assist with network infrastructure setup and breakdown
- Support event operations and resolve technical issues onsite
- Maintain professional communication with clients and event staff
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Network Engineer, IT Technician, or Event Technology Technician
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking
- Experience setting up Starlink systems
- Experience deploying and managing wireless access points
- Ability to run, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6 cabling
- Experience crimping RJ45 connectors
- Familiarity with switches, routers, and network troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional appearance and strong communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Compensation
- CAD $250 per day
- CAD $30 per day per diem
- Bi-weekly contractor payments
