We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Security Engineer with deep, hands‑on expertise in Palo Alto Networks firewalls to support enterprise network security operations and Engineering. This role requires end‑to‑end ownership of Palo Alto firewalls, including operations, engineering, upgrades, refreshes, and lifecycle management, along with strong hands‑on experience using AlgoSec for firewall policy optimization and automation. The ideal candidate will also have solid cloud networking fundamentals across Azure and GCP, supporting hybrid and multi‑cloud environments. Key Responsibilities: Palo Alto Firewall Engineering & Operations Own day‑to‑day operations, engineering, and administration of Palo Alto firewalls (physical and virtual) Design, implement, and maintain firewall configurations, security policies, NAT, routing, and VPNs Perform firewall upgrades, refreshes, migrations, and lifecycle management Troubleshot complex firewall and network connectivity issues across on-prem and cloud environments Ensure firewall configurations align with enterprise security standards and best practices AlgoSec – Policy Automation & Optimization Use AlgoSec as a primary operational tool to: Automate firewall policy changes Perform policy optimization and cleanup Conduct risk analysis and rule impact assessments Support firewall rule recertification and compliance reviews Cloud Networking & Hybrid Connectivity Support firewall integrations within Azure and GCP environments Work with Azure NSGs, routing tables (UDRs), VNET/VPC connectivity, and hybrid traffic flows Understand multi‑cloud networking principles and how firewall policies impact cloud workloads Security Operations & Compliance Monitor firewall health, logs, and alerts; respond to incidents and threats Support audits by maintaining documentation, changing records, and compliance evidence Collaborate with SecOps and Cyber teams on investigations and remediation Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands‑on Palo Alto firewall experience (operations, engineering, and upgrades) Strong hands‑on experience with AlgoSec for firewall change automation and policy optimization Experience supporting cloud networking in Azure and/or GCP Solid understanding of network security principles, routing, and traffic flows Ability to work independently in an operational environment Preferred Certifications PCNSE, NSE, NSA etc. (Palo Alto Networks) AlgoSec Certification (AFA Expert, AFF Expert) Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. This posting is for an existing vacancy. The expected salary range for this position is $86,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year, prorated based on the term of the contract. You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award pursuant to our Short-term Incentive plan and our Long-Term Incentive plan (if applicable), and to participate in our group benefits and retirement plans – details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS & Oxford offer letters.
