Job Description

Olsson offers its clients a full spectrum of water and wastewater services, including a complete line of planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services. Maintaining water quality is Olsson’s number one concern, and we can respond to a broad set of client demands in a timely and cost-effective manner. 

As a Licensed Engineer on the Water/Wastewater team, you will perform various engineering and project management duties related to evaluating, designing, and constructing plans for small to large-sized projects. You may assist with developing project scopes and schedules and have the opportunity to coordinate work of other staff members. You will work closely with other team members and engineers on wastewater collection and treatment projects, along with water supply, storage, treatment, and distribution. Typical tasks you will work on include sanitary sewer piping, wastewater pump stations, wastewater treatment facilities, water piping, water supply wells, water storage tanks, and water treatment facilities. 

Travel may be needed to job sites for observation in all types of terrain and weather conditions, as well as project sites in various stages of construction.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing process design calculations and analyzing reports to prepare cost estimates and determine feasibility of projects.
  • Applying knowledge and experience with standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist with coordination of project design aspects.
  • Communicating project development and progress with project managers and/or clients.
  • Entering and maintaining project information and client records in the firm’s project management system.
  • Evaluating and proposing adaptations to standard methods and procedures for components of assignments.
  • May supervise and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 4+ years of industry experience in water and/or wastewater engineering.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE).
