Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Licensed Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing case files, conducting legal research, drafting documentation, and attending hearings, with a strong focus on Landlord and Tenant Board matters.
This role requires a Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario who is confident working independently, handling a high volume of files, and representing clients in a professional setting. Candidates with experience in LTB proceedings and advocacy are essential, while a background in Small Claims Court is considered an asset.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing files from intake through to resolution, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong client communication throughout the process. This position is well-suited for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing their own caseload. Candidates who operate or have experience running their own practice are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Conduct legal research specific to Landlord and Tenant Board matters, including interpretation of the Residential Tenancies Act, regulations, and relevant case law.
Prepare, draft, and review LTB applications, notices, affidavits, submissions, and related legal documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
Communicate directly with clients to gather information, provide updates, and assist in case strategy preparation.
Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, including reviewing evidence and outlining expectations.
Track deadlines, hearing dates, and filing requirements to ensure compliance with LTB timelines and procedures.
Assist with Small Claims Court matters as needed, including drafting pleadings, preparing evidence, and supporting litigation processes.
Skills
Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario is required.
Strong knowledge of Landlord and Tenant Board procedures, forms, and legislation.
Advocacy experience representing clients at LTB hearings.
Experience or familiarity with Small Claims Court procedures is considered an asset.
Excellent legal drafting skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and persuasive documents.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of files and competing deadlines.
Effective client communication and interviewing skills.
High attention to detail in document preparation, review, and file management.
Ability to work independently and proactively, including managing your own caseload.
Familiarity with legal research tools and document management systems is an asset.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
