Job Description

O2E Brands is currently undergoing a significant digital and infrastructure transformation. We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in modernizing our technology stack.

This is not just an operational role; it is a builder role. You will work within the Cloud Operations team to architect scalable solutions, automate manual toil, and champion DevOps culture across the organization. If you are a veteran of production environments who loves solving complex infrastructure puzzles and mentoring others, we want to talk to you.

💼 A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Architect, build, and maintain production-grade cloud infrastructure using Terraform. You will move us away from "ClickOps" to fully version-controlled infrastructure.
  • CI/CD Transformation: Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable deployment cycles for our development teams.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Design and manage scalable containerized applications using Docker and Amazon ECS (Fargate/EC2).
  • Observability: Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch) to ensure system availability and rapid incident resolution.
  • Security & Networking: Harden Linux environments and manage complex networking layers (VPCs, DNS, VPNs, Load Balancing) with a "Security First" mindset.
  • Automation: Write clean, maintainable scripts (Python, Bash, Go) to automate operational tasks and self-healing mechanisms.
  • Technical Collaboration: Partner closely with other team members to architect solutions and share knowledge. You will help eliminate single points of failure by documenting patterns and cross-training on critical systems.
  • Operational Support & On-Call: Participate in the on-call rotation to support critical production systems.

Professional Experience

🎯 WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing production workloads in public cloud environments (AWS is preferred, but deep expertise in Azure/GCP is acceptable).
  • IaC Mastery: Advanced-level proficiency with Terraform >>> You have written modules from scratch and managed state files in a team environment.
  • Linux & Networking: Deep understanding of Linux internals (boot process, kernel tuning) and core networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, BGP).
  • DevOps Toolchain: Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI).
  • Scripting: Proficiency in at least one high-level scripting language (Python, Go, or Ruby) and advanced shell scripting.
  • Containerization: Proven experience running containers in production (Docker/Kubernetes).

Competencies For Success

  • Problem Solver: You don’t just fix the error; you find the root cause and engineer it out of existence.
  • Communicator: You can explain complex cloud architecture to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptable: You thrive in an environment of transformation where requirements may evolve.

Nice-to-Have Skills: (The "X-Factors")

  • Serverless Architecture: Experience designing Lambda/Serverless functions.
  • Database Ops: Knowledge of managing RDS, DynamoDB, or similar cloud-native databases.
  • Configuration Management: Experience with Ansible, SaltStack, or Chef.
  • DevSecOps: Experience integrating security scanning (SAST/DAST) into pipelines.

🏢 HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT

Our motto "It's All About People" drives us to create a hybrid work model that promotes collaboration, celebration, and connection, while giving you the flexibility to work where it makes sense for you.

  • Vancouver and Toronto based team members work in-office every other week (Tues–Thurs). Core attendance is required from 9 AM – 3 PM on these days to support business priorities.

💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $115,000 to $140,000 (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.)
  • A Total Compensation Package designed to support your financial, personal, and professional well-being. This includes:
  • Participation in our Company Profit Sharing Program
  • Comprehensive Extended Health & Dental Benefits

  • Hybrid Work Environment, offering flexibility to work both remotely and from our corporate offices
  • Professional Development Opportunities to support ongoing career growth
  • Access to Health and Wellness Programs, including gym facilities at our corporate head office
