Job description

The Mold Maintainer will be responsible for performing repairs or alterations to mold equipment used in glass container manufacturing by using hand tools, machinery, and welding.

The Mold Maintainer will:

  • Perform skilled bench and hand tool operations such as blending, shaping, making contours, matching cavities, welding and working out welds all inside cavities on Molds and Blanks
  • Perform lathe and mill work to restore mold equipment to blueprint specifications, as well fabrication of miscellaneous parts with or without an existing blueprint.
  • Inspect and verify quality of Mold equipment according to blueprints, established guidelines, and SOP’s.
  • Make CNC programs for part fabrication
  • Perform machining work consisting of refurbishing molds, blanks, baffles, bottoms, and odd-shaped cavities – or cavities involving flutes, decorations, or matches where cavity cast rack displacement must be held to close tolerances.  Responsible for grinding tapered, fly cutter arch, and other cutting tools, installing them, and making necessary mill adjustments.

The Mold Maintainer should have:

  • Machine lathe and mill experience
  • Experience reading blueprints and drawings
  • Experience with bench repair, Eutectic and ARC welding
  • Ability to use all precision measuring device
  • CNC Programming Skills
  • Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Journeyman Mold Maker Card strongly desired
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 year technical degree in tool and die making, machine technology or the like OR equivalent years of direct work experience 
  • At least 2 years experience working in a tool and die shop 
  • Automatic CNC mill and lathe knowledge is desirable
  • Must be able to work a 12 hour shift
  • Must have experience and basic knowledge of computers and be able to learn programs necessary to carry out job functions.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
