Job description

O'Chiese Education Authority is currently seeking one Physical Therapist for the 2026/2027 school year. This would be a contractual position with the individual providing services at the school once a month in a school-based setting.

The applicant work as a part of an interdisciplinary team to promote student access, participation, and success in educational environments. Services will focus on enhancing mobility, physical function, and independence to support learning and inclusion with a small caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

· assess students’ physical development, mobility and functional abilities within the school environment

· develop and implement therapy plans aligned with student learning goals and IPPs

· support student participation in classroom, physical education classes, land-based classes, playground play, and school-based activities

· Collaborate with the Inclusive Education Coordinator, Teachers, Educational Assistants, and other professionals (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists)

· recommend and support the use of adaptive equipment (e.g., seating, mobility aids, etc.) when necessary

· Provide direct therapy (individual or small group) and consultative support

· Monitor and document student progress and adjust interventions as needed

· Educate staff and families on strategies to support student development

Qualifications

· Licensed Physical Therapist in Alberta

· Registration with a recognized regulatory body (such as the College of Physiotherapist of Alberta)

· Experience working with a variety of ages of students in a school setting

· Knowledge of motor development, neurodevelopmental conditions, and physical disabilities
