Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Uber, NVIDIA, Google, Softbank, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, and other leading investors.

About the Role

As Chief of Staff for Nuro Driver, you will play a critical role in driving strategic programs, improving execution, and helping refine the Autonomy Product that powers Nuro’s commercial partnerships and deployment roadmap.

Nuro Driver encompasses Autonomy, Controls, Embedded Software, Sensor Data & Calibration, and Systems Engineering, Technical Program Managers - the core technical functions responsible for developing, integrating, tuning, validating, and scaling the Nuro Driver. Reporting to the VP of Nuro Driver, you will operate as a trusted proxy and execution partner, working across internal engineering teams, company leadership, and key external partners to bring clarity, structure, and momentum to Nuro’s most important technical and business priorities.

This role requires strong strategic judgment, technical fluency, operational rigor, and executive-level stakeholder management. You will help translate complex product, technical, and partner needs into clear priorities, structured programs, and high-quality execution.

About the Work

You will be responsible for driving critical work across Nuro Driver and the company, including:

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Lead high-priority strategic programs across Nuro Driver, including initiatives tied to autonomy product maturity, partner readiness, deployment milestones, and commercialization.
  • Create structure around ambiguous technical and business problems, turning broad goals into clear workstreams, owners, timelines, risks, and decision points.
  • Drive cross-organizational initiatives involving Nuro Driver, AI Platform, Vehicle Platform & Hardware, Safety, Operations, Legal, Finance, and People.
  • Partner with technical leaders to identify critical paths, resolve dependencies, unblock progress, and escalate issues with the right context and urgency.
  • Ensure complex initiatives move from discussion to decision to execution, with clear accountability and follow-through.

Autonomy Product & Partner Execution

  • Support strategic partner initiatives by coordinating across technical, product, operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Help define the right forums, processes, and artifacts to align partner expectations with Nuro Driver’s roadmap and execution plans.
  • Identify gaps between partner requirements, internal technical readiness, and deployment milestones, then drive the work needed to close them.

VP of Nuro Driver Proxy & Executive Support

  • Operate as a trusted proxy for the VP of Nuro Driver in key forums, helping drive decisions, clarify priorities, and ensure follow-through.
  • Act as a strategic filter for the VP, ensuring leadership time and organizational energy are focused on the highest-impact initiatives.
  • Prepare executive-level narratives, updates, and materials for company leadership, Board meetings, partner discussions, planning forums, and strategic reviews.
  • Provide insight into organizational execution, leadership effectiveness, operating gaps, and priority tradeoffs.
  • Represent the VP’s priorities with clarity and judgment while knowing when to escalate, align, or drive independently.

Nuro Driver Operating Cadence

  • Improve Nuro Driver’s operating cadence across planning, decision-making, communication, and execution.
  • Facilitate leadership meetings, technical reviews, milestone reviews, offsites, and cross-functional operating forums.
  • Drive clear communication and reporting across all levels of the organization, including leadership updates, all-hands, planning reviews, and company-level forums.
  • Proactively identify execution risks, organizational gaps, and cross-functional dependencies before they become blockers.
  • Help the organization operate with sharper priorities, faster decision-making, and stronger accountability.

People & Organizational Initiatives

  • Partner with the People Team and Nuro Driver leadership on recruiting, onboarding, performance, talent reviews, engagement, learning and development, and retention initiatives.
  • Support organizational design and operating model work as Nuro Driver scales across autonomy, embedded software, controls, calibration, systems, validation, and commercial milestones.
  • Help reinforce a high-performance technical culture centered on ownership, speed, quality, accountability, and clear decision-making.

About You

  • You have 7+ years of experience in technical program management, business operations, product/program management, engineering operations, management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field.
  • You have experience working closely with engineering teams, ideally in robotics, autonomy, embedded systems, controls, calibration, systems engineering, AI, automotive, or another complex product development environment.
  • You have a track record of driving complex, high-impact programs across multiple teams, senior stakeholders, and ambiguous problem spaces, proactively creating structure and turning strategy into rigorous execution in fast-moving environments.
  • You can quickly understand technical and product context, identify what matters, and translate complexity into clear, actionable decisions and communication, both written and verbal.
  • You are comfortable acting as a proxy for senior engineering leadership representing priorities, building trust across technical and non-technical partners (engineering, product, operations, finance, legal, people, and executive teams), driving alignment, and influencing without direct authority.
  • You have experience preparing materials for executive audiences, partner discussions, Board meetings, or senior leadership forums.

Bonus Points

  • Experience supporting customer-facing or partner-facing technical programs.
  • Experience managing stakeholders across multiple offices, companies, and time zones.
  • MBA, experience working at a top consulting firm, or similar experience.
  • Fluency in using AI tools.
