Nurse Practitioner - Addiction Medicine

1 FTE Thunder Bay Site

One of a network of provincial community health centers, the NorWest Community Health Centers is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking 1 FTE permanent Nurse Practitioner - Addiction Medicine, who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team will provide Nurse Practitioner assistance to vulnerable populations. The role will include working with interdisciplinary teams to provide addiction medicine within the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic, as well as a full primary care scope of practice for clients of Kwae Kii Win Managed Alcohol Program.

The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario's Pension Plan and an excellent group health benefits package.

The salary range for this position is $112,199 to $134,196 per year.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized university.

Certificate in the Extended Class from College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

Broad knowledge, background and interest in the practice of community health, addictions and harm reduction.

Interested in providing Substance Use Health Care and supporting clients across the continuum of substance use.

Knowledge and experience with current and emerging practices in addiction medicine prescribing and monitoring

Knowledge of managed alcohol administration is an asset.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and teaching skills.

Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Ability to work at different sites with the Thunder Bay area

Demonstrated experience working across all genders, with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are/have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma.

Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).

Valid driver's license required and access to a vehicle.
