Position Summary

Opportunity

Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Emergency Department team at Fort Nelson General Hospital. This dynamic role involves providing emergency care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, team-based care environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary emergency department team, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Virtual specialist consultation services and telemedicine technologies are available to support clinical decision-making and enhance access to expertise. The position offers adaptable scheduling options to support service delivery and work-life balance. Advanced certifications required include ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and CASTED.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and manage patients across CTAS 1–5,

Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary emergency department team to provide safe, patient-centered, high-quality care.

Utilize PowerChart or paper-based documentation systems.

Engage with virtual specialist services to support timely, high-quality emergency care delivery.

Contribute to a team-based approach to emergency medicine.

Salary Range:

New Graduate NP - $149,382

1 Year Experience - $156,851

2 Years Experience - $164,320

Qualfications

Education and Experience

• Completion of BCCNM approved Master’s degree level nurse practitioner program.
• Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

• Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis.
• Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients/clients/residents to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate.
• Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to introduce education and evidence-based research.
• Ability to assess and recognize population health trends; ability to plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.
