Power Plant Operator

Role Description The Power Plant Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Solon, OH, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of landfill gas-to-energy power plant equipment and systems. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring plant performance, adjusting controls to meet power output and efficiency targets, and performing routine inspections of the engine, compressors, and support equipment. The operator will respond to alarms, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and coordinate with operations team to ensure timely repairs and preventive maintenance. This role also involves recording operating data, following standard operating procedures, adhering to environmental and safety regulations, and collaborating with team members to optimize plant reliability and performance. The position requires hands-on work in an industrial environment and a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Mechanical skills pertaining to Power Plant Operations, with experience overseeing daily plant activities and system performance.
• Knowledge of Power Generation processes and Power Plants, including basic electrical and mechanical principles relevant to industrial energy facilities.
• Hands-on Equipment Maintenance skills, including routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, and support of preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation such as operating manuals, process flow diagrams, and maintenance records.
• Commitment to safety and environmental compliance, with familiarity in OSHA standards and applicable environmental regulations.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, on-site industrial setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate, apprenticeship, or associate degree in a related field (e.g., power generation, industrial maintenance, electrical or mechanical technology) preferred.
• Prior experience in power plants, industrial facilities, or renewable energy operations is strongly beneficial.
