Job description
The Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre (NFC) is an Indigenous not-for-profit, culture and community-based organization mandated to serve the needs of urban Indigenous people in the City of Peterborough and surrounding area. The NFC is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Human Resource/Operations Manager (herein referred to as Manager).

Objective
To provide efficient and effective management of NFC’s human resources and daily operations, ensuring a safe and suitable environment, in compliance with applicable legislation.
Area of Responsibility
The Human Resources (HR)/Operations Manager will oversee human resources management and the management of the Centre’s property and its’ assets. In addition, will practice and role model cultural competency and cultural safety using a trauma-informed wholistic approach within the broader community.
Job Specifications
· Manage human resource needs, including recruitment (postings/job descriptions), hiring (interview questions), professional development and training;
· Facilitate the onboarding process for new staff, ensuring a welcoming and complete integration of new staff into the NFC team
· Ensure new staff are registered for the group benefits plan, arrange update sessions with Plan Advisors, circulate new information and support staff when needed
· Manage personnel files, ensuring they are up-to-date and secure;
· Consult with the management team on disciplinary matters and execute actions according to policy and procedures;
· Manage staff attendance and review staff timesheets;
· Coordinate and facilitate annual performance reviews of program staff;
· Support staff to adhere to NFC’s policies and procedures;
· Make recommendations for updates to HR policies based on legislative change, and review any change with the Executive Director;
· Manage regular custodial services, ensuring facilities are well maintained and organized;
· Oversee the maintenance and operation of the building’s alarm and security system, HVAC units, and kitchen fan ensuring proper inspections and fire drills are scheduled and completed;
· Oversee the Braidwood Transitional Housing Program
· Manage the organization’s equipment and communication needs and systems, including VOIP, internet, copiers, computers and van;
· Maintain and update office equipment and furniture inventory;
· Manage maintenance services and contracts;
· Ensure kitchen is sufficiently equipped, and all equipment is properly maintained and in good working order;
· Ensure all meeting rooms are maintained and properly equipped to meet the program and organization’s needs;
· Manage maintenance services and contracts;
· Manage the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure monthly inspections are performed, reports are submitted, and any actions requires are achieved;
Qualifications
· Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
· Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in human resources.
· Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
· Experience in operations management, including management of property, health and safety, proposal and grant writing;
· Knowledge of the Friendship Centre Movement and Indigenous culture;
· Working knowledge of current applicable legislation (ie. Employment Standards Act), practices, standards and policies;
· Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable car and be willing to travel as required;
· Indigenous heritage a preference (ref: Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy); and,
· A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.
Salary: $ 56,100.00 - $75,900 annually (with a 6-month probation)
Benefits: Health care spending account, 3 weeks paid vacation, 15 days of paid sick time.
Schedule: 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday with evenings and weekends as needed
