Position Overview

As a school administrator, you will be part of the NLSchools' Leadership Team and be committed to furthering student success. You will be a learning leader, demonstrating a student first philosophy through prior teaching and/or administrative experience.

Reporting to your Director of Schools, you will provide leadership to staff in responsive teaching, school development, financial management, performance appraisal, staffing plans, and ensuring that the school meets student needs. You will collaborate with your team to promote equity, recognize individual differences, and celebrate cultural diversity.

Your work will follow the Atlantic Provinces Standards of Practice for School Based Administrators.

Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge and experience in leading for learning in a school community.
• Thorough knowledge of current pedagogy and methodology for exemplary teaching and an outcome based curriculum.
• Providing instructional leadership to promote student learning and using data to inform decisions.
• Developing trusting, positive, and stable working relationships with students, staff, parents, professional groups, and stakeholders.
• Shaping a safe and positive learning environment, facilitating a climate of trust and safety.
• Building the leadership potential of others, recognizing and leveraging individual strengths.
• Leading by example and building vision through consensus and collaborative creation of purpose and direction.
• Cultivating a caring, supportive, and safe school community that promotes academic success and well being for students and staff.
• Using a systems approach to identify operational/educational issues and solve problems.
• Contributing to the development of NLSchools' plans, policies, and practices.
• Strong supervisory, team building, time management, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Managing the school, its facilities, and financial and human resources to provide an effective and safe learning environment.
• Managing financial requirements, including disbursements, bank reconciliations, and record keeping.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education
• Master's Degree in a relevant area
• NL Teaching Certificate
