Role Description The Metal Additive Manufacturing Engineering - Team Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This position oversees day-to-day engineering activities for metal additive manufacturing projects, including material and process development, build planning, parameter optimization, and troubleshooting. The team lead coordinates cross-functional project work, aligns engineering priorities with business goals, and ensures quality, safety, and compliance standards are met. Daily responsibilities include mentoring and coaching jmore junior engineers and technicians, reviewing technical documentation, monitoring production performance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives in both hardware and software workflows. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders on project timelines and budgets, supporting automation strategies for manufacturing cells, and driving standardization of best practices across the team.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated Team Leadership and Engineering Management skills, with experience guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams in a production or R&D environment.
  • Proficiency in Project Management and Automation, including planning, executing, and optimizing automated manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Software Development related to manufacturing systems (e.g., scripting, integration, or custom tools for data analysis, monitoring, or control).
  • Strong background in mechanical, materials, or manufacturing engineering, preferably with direct exposure to metal additive manufacturing processes (e.g., powder bed fusion, DED).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, analyze process data, and make informed decisions to improve quality, reliability, and throughput.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate across operations, quality, and leadership teams in an on-site environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or related field); advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEAN, Six Sigma) are an asset.
  • Experience with industrial safety standards, quality management systems, and working in a regulated or highly technical manufacturing setting is beneficial.
