We are seeking a dedicated Fire Protection Specialist who will play a crucial role in enhancing fire safety standards across various industrial environments. Your expertise will contribute to the analysis of fire safety data and risk management practices to safeguard personnel and assets.
Duties
- Analyze and report on industrial shipboard fires, focusing on data collection, trend analysis, and performance during drills and audits.
- Assess fire safety risks in NAVSEA industrial environments and supervise waterfront Engineering Managers in fire risk activities.
- Conduct risk assessments regarding deferred fire prevention requirements on industrial ships.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for fire prevention and protection systems, utilizing water mist and sprinkler systems to avert and extinguish fires aboard industrial ships.
- Lead investigations into firefighting incidents to ascertain their origin and cause in an industrial setting.

Qualifications
Your resume should reflect at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 or GS-13 level in the Federal service or similar experience in other sectors. This experience must demonstrate proficiency in overseeing fire protection systems for ships, developing safety requirements, and mitigating hazards.
Education
Applicants must meet basic education qualifications from the OPM Qualifications Standards Manual, including:
- A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, or
- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or
- Completion of at least 60 semester hours in engineering-related courses, or
- A degree in a related scientific field with at least one year of engineering experience.
Additional Information
This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The salary range for this position is capped at GS-15, Step 05, equivalent to $191,850. Relocation incentives may be authorized.
