Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Vice President of Sales, Business Development, and Customer Success to lead revenue growth, client acquisition, client retention, and customer success initiatives across the US and Canadian markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in professional services, accounting, CPA firms, tax, bookkeeping, audit support, or outsourced finance services, with proven experience managing sales, business development, CRM, and customer success teams.
The VP will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, improving customer retention, and ensuring exceptional client experience throughout the customer lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve annual revenue and growth targets.
- Identify and acquire new clients across the US and Canada.
- Generate qualified leads through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and strategic partnerships.
- Build relationships with CFOs, Controllers, Business Owners, CPA firms, and accounting professionals.
- Lead contract negotiations and close high-value engagements.
- Develop channel partnerships, referral networks, and alliance programs.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry opportunities.
Customer Success & Client Retention
- Develop and implement customer success strategies to maximize client satisfaction and retention.
- Establish client onboarding, engagement, and renewal processes.
- Build long-term relationships with key accounts and strategic clients.
- Proactively identify churn risks and implement retention initiatives.
- Drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts.
- Ensure achievement of customer retention, renewal, and Net Revenue Retention (NRR) goals.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage Sales, Business Development Representatives (BDRs), Account Managers, CRM Executives, and Customer Success teams.
- Define KPIs, performance metrics, and incentive plans.
- Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and training programs.
- Build a high-performance, customer-centric culture.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and service delivery teams.
CRM & Revenue Operations
- Oversee CRM systems and ensure data accuracy and pipeline visibility.
- Establish sales processes, forecasting models, and reporting dashboards.
- Analyze customer and sales data to improve conversion rates and customer retention.
- Drive automation and process optimization within CRM platforms.
- Monitor sales funnel metrics and customer lifecycle performance.
Strategic Planning
- Develop annual business plans and growth strategies.
- Forecast revenue and manage sales budgets.
- Present business performance reports to executive leadership.
- Identify new service offerings and market expansion opportunities.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and strategic growth initiatives where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Sales, Business Development, Customer Success, or Revenue Leadership roles.
- 5+ years managing sales and customer success teams.
- Experience working with CPA firms, accounting firms, tax, bookkeeping, audit support, outsourced accounting, or financial services is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of US and Canadian business environments.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue growth and retention targets.
- Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
