Job description

Music Kids is seeking dynamic and passionate music educators to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Our program focuses on teaching beginning level violin, piano, and guitar to young and enthusiastic learners, aged 3 and up. If you’re eager to inspire students through music, this opportunity is for you!

At Music Kids, we offer small group classes (typically 2-4 students) and some individual lessons at our partner schools. We encourage applications from:

  • Music teachers looking to broaden their teaching repertoire.
  • Classroom educators aiming to return to their musical roots.

While proficiency in violin and guitar/piano is preferred, we particularly seek violin instructors. However, all applicants are welcome as we provide curriculum resources and support for beginner teaching across all three instruments.

The Organization:

Music Kids is dedicated to enhancing student development by integrating musical instrument education within local schools. We have successfully educated thousands of students across over 90 partner schools in various states.

The Position:

  • Teach small group classes at local partner schools.
  • Manage student records and communicate learning updates to parents.
  • Support students through virtual learning outside of classroom hours.

Commitment to teaching for one academic year (mid August - mid June) is essential, with options for summer employment. Flexibility is needed for scheduling on weekdays from 2 PM to 6 PM, plus additional office hours.

Compensation

The annual salary for full-time (30 hr/week) positions ranges from $34,320 to $51,480, depending on experience. Additional benefits for employees working over 20 hours include PTO, holidays, and medical coverage. Commute time bonuses may also be available.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching and student performances during school hours.
  • Parent communication, lesson planning, scheduling, and progress reporting.
  • Promoting the program at partner school events, particularly during registration periods.
  • Engaging in professional development with senior faculty members and staff.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 1-2 years of teaching experience, in music or traditional classrooms.
  • Willing to teach multiple instruments at a beginner level, ideally all three.
  • Strong interest in working with young students, especially aged 3-5.
  • Passionate about positively influencing primary education.
  • Comfortable teaching small groups and adjusting teaching styles to meet diverse needs.
  • Proactive and independent, representing the organization well at partner schools.
  • Experience in leadership or project management is a plus.
  • Reliable, organized, and possesses excellent communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable working with digital resources for administrative tasks.
  • Owns a car for commuting to partner schools (preferred but not mandatory).

If you are excited about making a difference in students' lives through music, we encourage you to apply!
