Role Overview
The Principal and Major Gifts (PMG) Analyst plays a critical role in the complex and varied relationship management that defines the Major Gifts unit. The role works cross-departmentally to coordinate efforts requiring project management and support of gift officer activities that lead to enhanced revenue capabilities among the PMG team. The PMG Analyst serves as a platform expert on Asana and other project management tools, as well as a facilitator for donor acknowledgements and high-touch donor data upkeep in MSF’s Salesforce NPSP CRM. The Analyst works directly with the Senior Director and PMG operations colleagues on projects and activities that supply tools and resources to the entire team, such as SharePoint management. The Analyst is responsible for sub-department project management and coordinating logistics for donor events.
Department Accountabilities
Key Account Management
Take overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering the organization's account management strategy. May also personally manage a few relationships with the most strategic donors.
Donor Development
Pursue strategic opportunities in coherence with MSF-USA´s strategy, that create long-term value for the movement by cultivating partnerships or identifying and develop new geographies, markets or donors for its mission.
Donor Relationship Development
Build trust and loyalty with potential donors. At the simplest level, update donors on activities. At a more complex level, build long-term relationships with donors, especially large corporations or foundations.
Brand Positioning
Develop brand positioning based on the brand strategy and implement brand plans.
Roles Specific Outcomes
Project Management
Deliver small-scale or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
Data Management
Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues. This includes being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.
Business Meetings/Events Arrangement
Arrange venues, equipment, catering, accommodation, and travel for participants arriving from various locations to ensure the smooth running of complex large events.
Donor Relationship Management:
Make calls (by telephone or in person) to allocated donors to maintain and strengthen existing relationships. Act as a first point of contact for resolving donor queries and concerns, specifically as related to events and donor engagement opportunities.
Key Account Management
Provide day-to-day support on both new and existing accounts by performing prescribed and non-routine account management activities. Help the account management team responding to more complex donor inquiries.
Administration
Produce, update, and provide best practice support on complex MSF documents, databases, and other departmental systems, advising colleagues when needed, and using own expertise to help improve processes.

Desired Qualifications & Experience
At a minimum, the Job Holder should possess:
- Two years of related work experience at a non-profit, in a major gifts team is preferred but not essential.
- Experience with and knowledge of donor databases and contacts management, preferably Salesforce/NPSP.
- Experience with and knowledge of project management tools, preferably Asana
- Demonstrated ability to oversee data integrity and coordinate systems that improve efficiency. Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential donors and organizational information.
- Experience supporting donor events, direct mailings, or campaign execution strongly preferred.
- Comfort working cross-functionally and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-aligned environment.
Travel Requirements
Must be willing to travel for work as needed.
Location
NYC or Washington DC (Hybrid- in office Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
This role is based in New York or Washington DC, where most of the team and operational infrastructure are located. Due to current staffing and budget constraints, we’re unable to support this position in our California office.
Compensation
$59,475 - $89,212; Please note that this role is compensated on an hourly basis and is structured around a 35‑hour work week.
In alignment with MSF USA’s compensation framework, new hires are generally offered between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on relevant experience, skills, and internal equity.
