Job Description
Role Summary: The Injection Mold Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plastic injection molds to ensure optimal performance, quality, and production efficiency. This role supports production operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on molds and related components.
Role Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the inspection, cleaning, repair, and modification of molds.
- Maintain, monitor, and document injection mold history to ensure continuous adherence to quality specifications and established company standards.
- Work with engineering department and participate in design reviews.
- Work to minimize the mold breakdown.
- Improve uptime and reduce maintenance cost of mold.
- Maintain spare list of standard tooling components.
- Plan and perform on time preventive maintenance of mold as per PM schedule.
- Ensure health and safety standards are followed.
- Foster and maintain a positive work environment.
- Maintain and record PM and mold Breakdowns history in SAP.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plastic injection molds
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble molds.
- Troubleshoot mold-related defects (flash, short shots, burn marks, sticking, etc.)
- Polish mold surfaces, vents, and parting lines.
- Ability to read and understand mold drawings and technical documents.
- Ability to work with hot runner systems.
- Replace worn or damaged components (pins, sleeves, lifters, springs, O-rings, etc.)
- Maintain cooling systems (cleaning water lines, checking for leaks or blockages)
- Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions.
- Knowledge of Welding, grinding, or polishing of molds.
- Document maintenance activities and repair history.
- Follow safety procedures and 5S/lean manufacturing practices.
- Work closely with production, quality, and process technicians.
- Train and coach new employees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Mold Technology, Tool & Die Engineering or any other technical Education from any reputed institute/university.
- 2-4 years of experience in injection mold maintenance department.
- Strong leadership and team spirit.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Computer knowledge is mandatory.
- Able to write emails, reports, and work instructions in English.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with all levels of personnel and outside vendors.
