Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for managing and maintaining production database environments. The role involves database installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery management, replication setup, and ensuring high availability.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management
- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL servers across production and non-production environments
- Perform database health checks and monitoring
- Implement backup and recovery strategies including WAL and PITR
- Manage replication and clustering for high availability and disaster recovery
- Handle schema changes, upgrades, patching, and database access control
Performance Optimization
- Analyze SQL queries and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Optimize database queries, indexes, and resource utilization
- Use monitoring tools to improve performance
Security & Compliance
- Enforce database security policies
- Monitor and respond to database security incidents
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
Automation & Collaboration
- Develop scripts to automate DBA tasks
- Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams
- Maintain technical documentation and participate in on-call support
Required Skills
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL administration
- SQL and PL/pgSQL programming
- Replication technologies (Streaming / Logical)
- Backup & recovery tools: pg_dump, pg_basebackup, WAL, PITR
- High availability tools: Patroni, Repmgr, Pgpool-II
- Linux/Unix administration
- Scripting using Bash or Python
Nice to Have
- Cloud database platforms: AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL, Azure PostgreSQL
- Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, pgBadger
