Veterinary Assistant – Full-Time

Pay: $21–$23/hour
Urgent Animal Care of Arlington is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced, collaborative urgent care team! If you enjoy variety in your day, thrive under pressure, and are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, we'd love to meet you.
As an AAHA-accredited urgent care hospital that opened in 2023, we combine high-quality medicine with a supportive culture where every team member plays an important role in our success.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay: $21–$23/hour
- Flexible 4-day work week (36 hours/week)

Schedule
- Full-Time
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Four-day work week
- Three longer shifts and one shorter shift each week
- One weekend day required per week
What You'll Do
- Triage and assist with urgent care appointments
- Prepare treatment plans alongside the veterinarian
- Assist with physical examinations and treatments
- Perform venipuncture
- Draw up and administer injections
- Administer subcutaneous fluids
- Obtain patient histories and complete medical documentation
- Escort clients to exam rooms and help manage patient flow
- Communicate effectively with both the medical team and clients
- Utilize your full Veterinary Assistant skill set within Virginia regulations
What We're Looking For
- 1–2 years of veterinary assistant experience
- Previous emergency or urgent care experience preferred
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Comfortable with:
- Venipuncture
- Administering injections
- Subcutaneous fluid administration
- Patient restraint and handling
- Assisting with treatments and appointments
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
Cases You'll See
No two days are the same! Common urgent care cases include:
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Eye and ear conditions
- Minor wounds and lacerations
- Broken nails
- Blocked cats
- Minor injuries
- Other non-life-threatening urgent medical concerns

- A High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
