Job description
Title: Cloud Engineer Specialist
Duration: 6 months possible extension
Location: Full-time on-site M-F in Mclean, VA
Core Competencies - Primary Focus:
- Cloud Deployment & Operations: History of contributing to cloud deployments in an engineering role
- Service-Oriented Architecture: Deep understanding of SOA, microservices, and cloud-native application design
- API Development & Security: Building and securing APIs for distributed cloud systems and identity context sharing. API integration with IAM systems.
- Complex System Integration: Experience integrating multiple cloud services and third-party applications in enterprise environments
- Software Development Lifecycle: Full SDLC experience with cloud platforms and information security applications ·
Deployment Experience:
- History of contributing to production deployments in an engineering role Core Competencies - Supporting:
- OAuth & Authentication: Building OAuth solutions for cloud service authentication and authorization
- Federation & SSO: SAML configuration and Single Sign-On integration across cloud applications
- IAM Architecture: Understanding of Identity Lifecycle Management, Access Management, and Credential Management in cloud contexts
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Security integration (Duo or Microsoft Authenticator) into authentication, authorization, and SSO processes
- Complex Integration: Experience with complex Identity and Access Management integration and service delivery use cases
- Identity Lifecycle Management: User provisioning/de-provisioning
- Data Management: Strong knowledge in identity and access data correlation, normalization, and building cohesive identity and access data models for large enterprises.
Requirements Experience:
- 10 years in software development focused on cloud technologies and distributed systems
- 5 years with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in enterprise environments
- 3 years with full SDLC for cloud/hybrid applications: requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and deployment automation
- 3 years with cloud infrastructure: Kubernetes/Docker, cloud databases, application servers, networking (VPC, load balancers, API gateways), Linux, and security/data flows
- 3 years designing and implementing cloud solutions with integrated security and IAM
- Experience with IAM architecture: OAuth, SSO, SAML federation, and MFA integration in cloud applications
Technical Skills:
- Amazon Web Services: EC2, EKS, ECS, KMS, S3, IAM, RDS, etc.
- Container Orchestration: Kubernetes
- Service Mesh: Istio
- Package Management: Helm, pip
- IaC: Terraform, Cloud Formation
- DevOps Tools: Jenkins, Git, Artifactory
- Design Patterns: Formal design patterns and industry best-practices
- Java Stack: Spring / Spring Boot, JPA / Hibernate, Postgres, REST / RPC calls over HTTP
- Scripting Languages: Groovy / Perl / Python / Ruby Soft Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
