Workday Specialist (Payroll)
Position Summary
As a Workday Specialist at Millennium, you will support the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday with payroll as the primary accountability. This role partners with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable Workday solutions and drive continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain Workday Payroll (earnings, deductions, tax elections, pay groups, payroll inputs, and validations) to ensure efficient payroll processing.
- Configure and support Workday HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, and Absence, including business processes, condition rules, eligibility rules, notifications, and security roles.
- Own end-to-end payroll-related workflows in Workday, partnering with Payroll to reconcile results, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support and coordinate Workday releases and new feature enablements: review release notes, assess impact, configure updates, and manage testing and sign-off.
- Build and maintain Workday reports and calculated fields across supported modules
- Serve as a Workday subject matter expert and escalation point for stakeholders; provide guidance on best practices and recommend process and configuration improvements.
- Develop and maintain documentation (process flows, SOPs, job aids) and deliver training to end users to enhance adoption and effective use of Workday.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on Workday experience, with significant configuration and support experience in Workday Payroll.
- Experience supporting multi-state or multi-jurisdiction payroll environments preferred.
- Experience in the financial services industry is a strong plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong Workday Payroll configuration skills (earnings/deductions, taxes, pay groups, payroll processing and auditing).
- Experience configuring and supporting Workday HCM and at least two of: Payroll, Benefits, Learning, Talent, Time Tracking & Absence.
- Proven experience with business processes, security groups, calculated fields, and advanced reporting
- Experience with EIBs and vendor integrations (especially payroll and benefits related) strongly preferred.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail and data quality.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll and system concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Pro certification or relevant Workday Payroll training.
- Prior experience in a financial services organization using Workday.
- Participation in at least one Workday implementation or major enhancement project involving Payroll.
