Job Description
Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for an Ergonomics Intern to join our Professional Development and Wellness department. This position is a part-time, 24 hours per week, internship opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, DC with a hybrid work model. Reporting to a Senior program manager in Ergonomics, the Ergonomics Intern will work with the Senior Director of Organizational Culture and Wellness and the Senior Program Manager of Ergonomics across multiple initiatives to advance strategic operational goals for the Wellness Department. The Ergonomics Intern’s role will execute in the collection of meaningful ergonomic data and provide logistical assistance in the ongoing various projects of the ergonomics program. You will assist with ongoing ergonomics program evaluation through data collection dissemination and survey analysis and provide input to optimize the current workflow of ergonomic initiatives for physicians and staff.
You can expect to:
- Assist the Senior Program Manager of Ergonomics in coordinating and promoting ergonomic opportunities including onsite and virtual educational events for seminars on ergonomics.
- Assist with ongoing ergonomics program evaluation through data collection dissemination and survey analysis.
- Provide input to optimize the current workflow of ergonomic initiatives for physicians and staff.
- Review and update the ergonomics product list, the handouts, the home office product catalog used in the Mid-Atlantic states and other commonly used data and contact lists.
- Other duties as required.
What is required:
- Must be a current student enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in occupational therapy, physical therapy, or ergonomics. Recent college graduates are ineligible for the internship program
- Must be available to work part-time, 24 hours a week, for a minimum of 12 weeks
- Minimum work experience: None required, but previous experience in working in prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries is a plus
- Specific project/work experience: Interest or coursework related to physical ergonomics in general, and in a healthcare environment.
- Soft skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude
- Must be able to commute to the Washington D.C. regional office a minimum of 5 times during the internship
- Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
- Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
