Job Description
Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Benefits Administrator to join our Human Resources department. This position is a Full-Time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, D.C with a hybrid work model.
Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,700 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of more than 800,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Reporting to the Manager of Retirement and Benefits Services, the Benefits Administrator plays a vital role in delivering a seamless, high-quality benefits experience for physicians and staff. In this role, you will administer employee benefit programs, support leave management, partner with vendors and internal stakeholders, and serve as a trusted resource for benefits guidance and problem resolution
You can expect to:
- Administer employee group benefit programs, including Long-Term Care and Group Legal Insurance
- Prepare and audit vendor billing statements, enrollment data, and premium deduction reports
- Administers and coordinates FMLA leave requests through a web-based system, partnering with Supervisors and HR Consultants to support effective leave management.
- Provide responsive, high-touch customer service by resolving benefits inquiries related to eligibility, enrollment, and premiums
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and benefits documentation
- Serve as a liaison with insurance carriers while ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
What is required:
- Bachelor’s degree required (degree in a related field preferred)
- 3–5 years of employee benefits administration experience
- At least 2 years of HRIS experience (Ultimate Software experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and staff at all levels
- Must be able to commute to Washington D.C., on an as-needed basis.
- Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
- Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment
- Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $73,000 to $84,000, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
