QC Inspector Level 1 or 2 ( (Temporary Assignment - 12 months)

The QC Inspector will support aircraft assembly operations. The QC Inspector has the responsibility and authority to approve or reject the quality of work regarding aircraft assembly operations. The decision process and final disposition will be based on inspection results by carrying out dimensional, functional and visual inspection in the form of In-Process inspection and Final inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex issues by interpreting technical data, drawings, MHICA engineering specifications and customer specs and engineering documents.
  • Reviews engineering investigation requests regarding non-conformance, initiates quality deficiency reports ensuring that they are accurate clear, concise and comprehensive.
  • Responsible for initiating the Non-conformance Process and issues non-conformance reports (I-Tags) for nonconforming incoming products.
  • Interfaces with production, engineering and other departments as necessary to issue non-conformance reports, identifies the root cause, monitor implementation of corrective actions and verify the rework activities.
  • Inspects for fit and compliance with quality documents installed pre-fabricated parts, sub-assemblies and mechanical systems, working at benches or directly on an aircraft structure.
  • Using measuring and testing equipment, inspects aircraft assemblies and mechanical systems for clearances, alignment, symmetry, dimensions, fit, function and quality workmanship.
  • Rechecks quality of work after adjustments and rework operations in compliance with specific instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Visually inspects parts and assemblies for completeness relationship to other components and assemblies, quality of work and obvious defects.
  • Monitors and verifies the quality of assembly work in accordance with aircraft inspection documents, drawings and engineering specifications
  • Compares measurements to drawings and engineering specifications to determine compliance with quality requirements and customer engineering specifications, maintains necessary inspection logs and writes inspection reports.
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests to determine if installations and mechanical systems are working in compliance with specified requirements.
  • Performs in-process inspections such as hole checks, fastener installations and sealant application.
  • Conducts area inspections and FOD surveillance as required
  • Monitors assigned working area for adherence to quality procedures and work instructions, proper use of tools and fixtures, calibration date of tools in use and shelf life of adhesives and other materials used in aircraft assembly.
  • Verifies production and quality documents, inspection records and working copy of the PIR book (operation traveler) for completeness and accuracy on previous operations

Physical Working Demands and Working Conditions

Must be physically fit, energetic, agile, willing and able to:

  • Work in restricted spaces (tanks)
  • Work at heights (3rd floor of jigs)
  • Work rotating shifts when and as required
  • Bend, twist, walk on uneven surfaces and climb stairs repeatedly during shift
  • Perform heavy lifting (
  • Stand for 7 hours of an 8-hour shift

Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications

  • QC Inspector work for aircraft assembly requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft assembly inspection tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers.
  • Knowledge and working experience with Non-conformance and Corrective Action Process
  • Proficient blueprint reading skills for interpretation of drawings
  • Must be comfortable working in a noisy, fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in aerospace industry relating to inspection of product and familiarity with aerospace parts and assemblies, manufacturing (machining) and assembly processes.
  • The candidate must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support and excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • Hands on experience and demonstrated skills regarding inspection records in compliance with AS 9102 standards.

Education

  • Technical College diploma or equivalent experience,
  • Vocational training regarding inspection of aircraft assemblies, including reading and interpretation of drawings, manufacturing / quality inspection procedures and engineering specifications
