Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment
system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO
Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway
system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier.

This role is an in office position (5 days per week) based at our [INSERT

Our Capital Projects Group is seeking a Project Manager, Northern Corridors to
support Capital Project Delivery along the Barrie Line GO Expansion (for
example, Maple GO Station and King City GO Station, or, as assigned).
The role involves work such as: station expansion and improvements, enabling
works for the corridor including new utilities and existing relocation to
support new infrastructure, testing and commissioning, delivering double track
and signals, civil works, retaining walls, pedestrian bridges and tunnels,
culverts, privacy fences, landscape works, and land acquisition to support GO
Expansion. This position will provide technical expertise and administration of
planning, engineering, design, and construction of transit infrastructure
projects.
What will I be doing?
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and delivering stations, railway track and
signaling projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within scope.
- Plan, coordinate and ensure site access with rail corridor access team are
successful
- Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging innovation, continuous
learning, and high performance.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes,
progress reports, and technical records.
- Identify and report project risks or issues and collaborate with senior team
members to develop solutions.
- Prepare and present project updates and technical documentation for
leadership.
- Manage project risks, troubleshooting issues to minimize impact on safety and
operations.
- Plan, set objectives and control activities during the development phase and
execution of the project in conjunction with the design integration and means
and methods construction teams.
- Manage all aspects related to internal and external stakeholders as the
project moves through its life cycle. Ensuring review timelines, comments and
integration of these comments are met and agreed.
- Drive the integration of all disciplines supporting the design and execution
of the work.
- Manage critical paths/milestones, by monitoring mechanisms for projects
(e.g., budget, schedule, scope, quality); regularly reports to Manager on
project status.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment; ensure project teams,
contractors and trades comply with health, safety and environmental standards
that meet or exceed legislated requirements.
- Heavily involved in construction planning to ensure operations of live rail
corridor is maintained and identification of key risks and opportunities to
deliver project.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a college diploma / university degree in Engineering,
Architecture or a related discipline - or a combination of relevant
education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably within the public
sector
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects involving planning, design,
construction, and commissioning of large scale and complex industrial,
commercial, or institutional works. Relevant experience in transit
facilities, heavy Railway infrastructure, bridges, structures, and related
works is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience to manage complex,
projects under pressure to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Demonstrated experience and application of supervisory principles and
practices to supervise staff.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Certified Engineering
Technician (CET) or P.Eng. designation or partial completion is an asset
- Knowledge of contract law, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and
construction standards and procedures applicable to operating Railway
environment.
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation and strong communication skills
to liaise with all levels within the organization and on construction sites.
- A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence is required for regular site visits. A
Driver’s Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the
successful candidate.
- Project specific requirement for construction on-site presence and
construction site visits (Capital Projects Group) during working hours as
well as some work evenings, weekends and/or holidays may be required.
