What you’ll do
- Drive a well‑maintained vehicle while professionally representing Messer to customers as one of our Drivers.
- Multiple deliveries of gas products and hardgoods to local customers (5‑ton or 10‑ton truck) within the assigned geographical area.
- Balance cylinder load sheets and daily cylinder records.
- Use handheld technology to process deliveries and reconcile agent consignment inventory balances.
- Comply with all government regulations.
- Maintain vehicles as per company vehicle policy, observe safety requirements, wear safety equipment and report safety hazards to supervisor.
- Inside Sales Representative – provide excellent customer service daily and perform tasks such as welcoming customers, preparing orders, following up and advising customers to come to the store.
- Provide administrative and technical support to internal clients.
- Source products and maintain satisfactory inventory levels.
- Communicate on multiple levels with external customers to increase counter sales through upselling.
- Support Branch Manager in obtaining all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), safety goals and excellent net operating profit.
- Pre‑call customer orders and enter invoices into SAP, prepare credit notes, sort documents, file and process telephone orders.
- Actively solicit new sales in store and via outgoing calls.
- Maximize counter sales and handle telephone enquiries from customers or prospective customers.
- Receive incoming hardgoods shipments from vendors and intercompany warehouses.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 3 or DZ license with air brakes.
- Minimum of 1 year driving experience with recognized driving school training or 3 years driving experience.
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent experience.
- A clean driving abstract (available to submit when asked).
- Ability to handle and lift goods up to 60 lbs.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable with computers and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Industrial sales skills.
Assets to have
- Knowledge of the gas and/or welding industry.
- Experience using handheld electronic devices.
- WHMIS/TDG certification.
