Job Title: R&D Officer – Surgical Robotics

Department:

Research & Development – Surgical Robotics

Location:

Vapi, Gujarat / Field-based (as per requirement)

Reports To:

Senior R&D Engineer / R&D Manager – Surgical Robotics

Job Purpose:

To support the design, development, testing, and clinical validation of surgical robotic systems and advanced medical devices by assisting R&D activities and conducting field-based clinical data collection, usability validation, and deployment support in hospital environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development & R&D Support

  • Assist in the design, development, and validation of surgical robotic systems and related medical devices.
  • Support prototype evaluation, system testing, and performance validation activities under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in product improvement initiatives focusing on functionality, safety, usability, and clinical effectiveness.

2. Clinical & Field Activities

  • Conduct frequent field visits to hospitals and clinical sites for:
  • Anatomical and procedural data collection
  • System testing and usability validation
  • Clinical workflow observation and feedback collection
  • Supporting device deployment and technical troubleshooting
  • Assist during live clinical procedures and trials to understand surgical workflows and device performance.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to support cross-functional projects.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, clinicians, and hospital staff for clinical evaluations and data validation.
  • Support regulatory and quality activities by providing clinical and technical inputs during product development.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Document clinical observations, field visit findings, test results, and validation data as per internal SOPs.
  • Prepare technical reports, study summaries, and improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, clinical protocols, and regulatory guidelines during field activities.

5. Innovation & Learning

  • Contribute to innovation initiatives in surgical robotics, automation, and advanced healthcare technologies.
  • Continuously upgrade technical and clinical knowledge through hands-on exposure and mentoring.
  • Support early-stage research activities and feasibility studies for new product concepts.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).
  • Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of relevant academic / internship exposure.
  • Exposure to clinical environments, medical device projects, or hospital-based internships is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Fundamental understanding of human anatomy (mandatory).
  • Strong interest in medical devices, surgical robotics, and healthcare technologies .
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to hospitals and clinical sites across locations.
