The role
The Technical Writer will be part of the Enterprise Process Improvements team, responsible for creating professional, user‑friendly documentation across the organization. This position reports to the Senior Operations Efficiency Specialist and supports all business units with system user guides, forms, policies, and other technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Use industry‑standard technical communication authoring tools to write, integrate, and publish documentation on Meridian’s intranet.
Produce new or update existing forms using Adobe tools (RoboHelp, InDesign, FrameMaker, Forms Designer).
Maintain Meridian documentation standards and uphold style guides.
Research, extract information, and understand technical concepts by interviewing subject‑matter experts.
Collaborate with delivery and communication teams to ensure timely distribution of information to personnel.
Ensure all document deliverables meet departmental and company standards and timelines.
Implement business process management and risk controls during review and publication of documents.
Educate business partners on documentation services procedures and timelines.
Create consistent and positive experiences for partners and members.
Elicit business partner needs, translate them into new or updated forms, and manage approvals.
Manage assigned tickets through the IT Management system and meet service level agreements.
Deliver succinct and informative updates on tasks and projects.
Uphold knowledge consistent with industry standards and suggest procedural enhancements.
Improve processes by identifying challenges and seeking improvement methods.
Contribute to team vision and encourage collaboration.
Support company goals related to improving documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge and skill level in creating new and updating existing documents to meet business partner requirements.
Ability to document technical concepts clearly, succinctly, and for target audiences.
Solid planning, research, and information organization skills.
Quick, independent learner capable of learning new material quickly and following up without guidance.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment while adhering to style guide standards.
Exceptional relationship and communication skills, with strong decision‑making ability, providing recommendations and direction in complex situations.
Forward‑thinking, assessing impact of decisions on short, medium, and long‑term outcomes.
Education & Experience
Minimum 3 years’ technical writing experience, with relevant post‑secondary education in professional writing disciplines such as English and Technical Communication.
Advanced knowledge and experience with industry‑standard authoring tools: RoboHelp, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Forms Designer, or equivalent, including Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Experience with single sourcing, HTML, and Copilot prompt writing is an asset.
Transparent, results‑oriented, and accountable with a strong partnership focus.
Proven ability to influence, facilitate discussions, resolve conflict, and build/manage relationships.
Adaptability and ability to act as an agent of change.
Knowledge of risk and controls.
Adherence to process‑effectiveness best practice guidelines and controls.
Comfort learning and adopting new digital tools, openness to using AI‑enabled technology to enhance productivity, accuracy, and member experience.
Salary Range
$59,800.00 to $89,800.00 CAD per year.
Office Location
Toronto Corporate Office – 3280 Bloor Street West, Centre Tower, 7th Floor, Toronto, ON or St. Catharines office – 75 Corporate Park Drive, St. Catharines, ON at least one day a week.
