We are seeking a motivated and eager Data Solutions Engineer to support our team of data engineers, data modelers, and data analytics product developers. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing data solutions and services, learn from technical experts, contribute to team projects, and participate in cross-functional discussions. This entry-level role requires a foundation in technical skills, a willingness to grow, and an analytical mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Support and Contribution: Assist the data solutions team in achieving project goals and delivering quality results. Provide input and learn from leadership.
  • Strategic Assistance: Help implement the strategic vision for data solutions and services, ensuring they align with company objectives. Contribute to building the roadmap for data solutions across Meridian.
  • Personal Development: Receive coaching and mentoring to support your professional growth and build your skill sets.
  • Cross-Functional Participation: Support the data solutions team in cross-functional committees and working groups to help integrate data initiatives.
  • Technical Support: Assist with the implementation and use of data technologies and platforms. Help assess future investments in data services and management technologies. Collaborate with internal partners, external vendors, and industry peers to understand needs and supporting technologies.
  • Enablement: Help design and develop self-serve, resilient, and scalable data solutions, products, data quality tools, and data insights products under team guidance.
  • Automation and Product Support: Work with analytics leaders from across the organization to assist in building automated and production-grade analytics solutions, including web applications, automated dashboards, ML Ops, and Data Ops processes.
  • Problem Solving: Apply problem-solving skills to tackle data challenges and contribute to innovative solutions.
  • Communication: Communicate with stakeholders to share updates on project progress, challenges, and successes

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Foundational Knowledge: Understand core data analytics concepts (data collection, processing, visualization), familiarity with tools like SQL, Python, Power BI, basic grasp of data management (quality, governance, security), awareness of automation (ML Ops, Data Ops), and how data solutions support business goals.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in beginner-to-intermediate data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Excel), ability to assist in developing dashboards and reports, and basic skills in supporting data solution development and automation processes.
  • Analytical Skills: Apply problem-solving to address straightforward data challenges, derive basic insights from data, and ensure accuracy in data handling and solution development.
  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Effectively communicate project updates and collaborate with team members, stakeholders, internal partners, vendors, and analytics leaders across the organization.
  • Learning and Adaptability Abilities: Quickly learn new tools and processes, adapt to feedback for skill improvement, work collaboratively in team settings, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives with attention to detail.

This role represents a newly created vacancy. Internal candidates are being considered as part of our standard process.

Salary Range: CAD 85,000 – 100,000 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.

Office Location: Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office as needed. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
