Overview
Media Profile is seeking a Brand Communications Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong experience in media and influencer relations, writing and content creation, vendor sourcing, project management, and reporting. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience and will work on-site with our automotive, powersports, and power equipment client. Experience in the automotive sector is an asset, but a strong interest in the industry is essential. This role is located within our client’s office in Markham, ON and requires on-site presence four days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Media & Influencer Relations
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Canadian media landscape, build productive relationships with journalists and content creators
- Navigate the nuances of media relations while balancing the needs of both the client and journalists
- Maintain familiarity with Canadian automotive, powersports, and power equipment media and content creators
- Develop and execute influencer strategies and tactics in collaboration with agency partners
- Communicate effectively with media and influencers, including developing project briefs and supporting contract negotiations
- Lead product recall communications as required
- Media relations support for industry exhibits
Media content & channels
- Draft news announcements, media materials, and award submissions
- Coordinate internal and client approval processes for communications materials
- Manage and maintain a media-facing news site/portal
- Support social listening, monitoring, and community management to identify emerging issues, track
PR strategy, planning & execution
- Develop and execute product PR plans in support of product launch events
- Participate in and, where required, lead Inter-Agency Team (IAT) marketing planning and reporting processes
- Serve as a key connection between client stakeholders and agency teams, ensuring alignment on strategy, messaging, timelines, and execution
- Lead customer relations and issue-based communications initiatives
- Provide ad hoc support for issues management and crisis communications
Project Management & Partnerships
- Support sponsorship strategy, including vendor sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and event support
- Lead communications planning and execution for major events and awards initiatives
- Serve as the primary Canadian product PR representative
- Manage media product loan scheduling and operations, coordinating inventory, access, and logistics
Skills & Attributes
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into integrated communications programs
- Strong analytical skills, with experience measuring PR performance and deriving actionable insights
- Deep understanding of digital and social ecosystems, including content strategy and channel integration
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Experience in crisis communications and issues management planning
- Proficiency with media monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision)
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience managing budgets and vendors
- Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline
- Postgraduate certificate or diploma in Public Relations or Corporate Communications is considered an asset
- Equivalent experience will be considered
Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
