For those who dream big and push boundaries on the ground and in the stars to change the world for the better, we'll take you there.For more information, visit www.mda.space.Role:MDA is seeking a Junior Systems Member of Technical Staff (MTS), Spacecraft Mechanical to support system-level engineering activities across earth observation and remote sensing satellite programs. Working as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the specification, analysis, integration, and verification of spacecraft systems, and launch integration. You will work under the guidance of intermediate and senior engineers, gaining experience in system-level engineering while contributing to the successful delivery of end-to-end satellite missions.ResponsibilitiesAs a Junior Systems MTS, Spacecraft Mechanical you may have a wide range of responsibilities that may include:Supporting the development and maintenance of mechanical, structural, and thermal requirements from mission level down to subsystem levelAssisting in defining spacecraft environmental design requirements including launch and in-orbit conditions (vibration, acoustic, shock, thermal)Supporting the development of mission loads cycles and structural verification activitiesAssisting with spacecraft mass model generation and maintaining system and subsystem budgetsSupporting development and maintenance of interface control documents (ICDs)Assisting with preparation of design reviews and generation of technical documentationContributing to verification planning including test matrices and requirement verification approachesSupporting development of test plans and participating in test activitiesReviewing subcontractor documentation for compliance to requirements with guidance from senior engineersParticipating in spacecraft validation, commissioning, and early operations activitiesSupporting engineering documentation, planning, and cost estimation activitiesRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Physics or a related disciplineFamiliarity with spacecraft mechanical systems such as structures, mechanisms, propulsion, and thermal managementFamiliarity with launch and in-orbit environments and their impact on spacecraft designExposure to spacecraft assembly, integration, and test (AIT) activitiesBasic understanding of environmental testing such as vibration, acoustic, shock, and thermal testingFamiliarity with mechanical engineering tools such as CAD (e.g., NX)Exposure to analysis tools such as finite element analysis (e.g., Nastran) or thermal analysis tools is an assetExperience using MS Excel for engineering analysisStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to learnEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a team environment under guidance from experienced engineersComments / Special ConsiderationsSuccessful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).We're a dream team of purpose-driven, collaborative and passionate people, and we are constantly looking for others to join #TeamMDA to ignite new and innovative approaches to problem-solving that push us forward to improve life on and above Earth.
