Our client in the machine building industry in Toronto, ON is seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. This role is ideal for a hands-on controls professional who thrives in programming, testing, commissioning, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high-performance automated equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Program and debug PLC & HMI systems (Allen-Bradley, Bosch-Rexroth, Codesys)
• Develop structured, maintainable ladder logic and structured text code
• Test and commission automated machinery prior to shipment and on customer sites
• Start up and tune AC drives, servo systems, and motion control applications
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems during build, install, and warranty phases
• Update electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
• Lead customer training and support on newly commissioned equipment
• Mentor junior team members and support project milestone execution
• Ensure ISO, safety, and documentation standards are upheld

What You Bring

• Engineering degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology (Controls focus)
• 5+ years of PLC/HMI programming experience across multiple platforms
• Strong experience with RSLogix 5000/500 or Siemens STEP 7
• Expertise in automation integration, device networking, and motion systems
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot at component level
• Experience commissioning industrial equipment in manufacturing environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under deadline pressure
