The role

As an AI staff software engineer, you will be responsible for generating ideas, designing, and developing product features and customer solutions built on LLMs and other AI technologies, including the underlying infrastructure. Your work will range from leading projects to conducting independent research, depending on the initiative.

You will work closely with leadership, product managers, and software engineers across Make to deliver high-quality AI products and features for our customers. Additionally, you will contribute to strategic decision-making and help ensure we stay at the forefront of AI innovation.

What you’ll do

• Deeply understand the business needs of Make customers, formulate them into concrete technical problems and build solutions or empower teams to tackle them. 
• Have a strong say in the technical vision and AI strategy of the company.
• Build production ready and scalable LLM based solutions. 
• Write and review RFCs and technical documentation.
• Review and give feedback on the work of others.
• Grow and help others grow professionally.
• Be willing to participate on an on-call rotation to respond to incidents that impact make.com availability.

What we expect from you

• You get AI (and have a deep understanding of modern AI technologies) and you are already using it daily to move faster and build better, whether you're designing a system, writing code, educating yourself or shipping features.
• You are entrepreneurial and have a track record of turning ideas into reality.
• Ability to drive technical solutions to complex problems, with focus on stability and scalability.
• Deep expertise in backend engineering, with a strong preference for experience using TypeScript/JavaScript technologies such as Node.js.
• University degree in CS or equivalent knowledge with 10+ years of experience on various projects, including your own initiatives.
• Academic background in ML is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent command of English – verbal & written (we’re an international team).
