Electrical Technical Support Specialist – Solar & Energy Storage (Remote – Canada)

Company Status: Industry Leader in Home Energy Storage & Inverter Technology Employment Type: 24-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Independent Contractor) Location: Fully Remote (Candidates must reside in Canada)

About the Role

We are a global manufacturer of residential solar inverters and energy storage systems, working closely with professional installers and distributors across North America.

We are seeking an Electrical Technical Support Specialist to support our solar and battery storage products. This role is ideal for someone with an electrical or energy-related background who enjoys problem-solving, learning complex products, and supporting real-world installations.

You will work directly with solar installers, technicians, and end users, providing technical guidance on inverter configuration, system operation, and troubleshooting. This is a hands-on technical role, not a general IT or software support position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide technical assistance for solar inverters and energy storage systems via phone, email, WhatsApp, and online meetings
  • Diagnose installation, configuration, and operational issues based on real field scenarios
  • Installer & Customer Support
  • Support professional solar installers and system owners with patience, clarity, and strong technical judgment
  • Explain system behavior, settings, and application-level functionality in a clear and practical way
  • Product Training & Knowledge Sharing
  • Participate in structured product training and continuously learn new products and features
  • Deliver online training sessions and product demonstrations for installers and partners
  • Occasionally support in-person training or industry events (limited travel)
  • Case Documentation & Collaboration
  • Document service cases, solutions, and common issues
  • Actively share findings with the internal technical team to improve product knowledge and support quality
  • Cross-Regional Collaboration
  • Work closely with international engineering and support teams to resolve complex technical issues

Requirements

  • Education / Background
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field
  • Hands-on experience with solar PV systems, inverters, or battery storage is strongly preferred
  • Technical Skills
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems (AC/DC basics, single-phase systems, wiring concepts)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and understand inverter configuration logic
  • Experience supporting hardware-based systems (not purely software or IT)
  • Communication
  • Fluent, professional English (clear spoken and written communication is essential)
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-engineers in a calm and structured manner
  • Work Style
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong learning ability and curiosity for complex technical products
  • Organized, responsible, and comfortable handling real customer issues
  • Mobility
  • Valid passport and ability to travel occasionally to the United States or attend industry events (limited frequency)

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 24 months

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year

  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid time off
