Job description
Role Description The Medical Equipment Sterilization Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This role is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, assembling, and packaging medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and regulatory standards. The technician loads, operates, and unloads sterilization equipment, monitors cycle parameters, and documents sterilization records for traceability and compliance. Daily tasks include inspecting instruments for damage or wear, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and ensuring correct storage and inventory of sterile supplies. The technician collaborates with clinical teams to meet workflow needs, prioritizes urgent requests, and follows strict infection prevention and safety procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in medical equipment handling and familiarity with medical equipment used in clinical and surgical settings.
- Strong skills in equipment maintenance, including routine checks, cleaning, and preventive servicing to ensure optimal performance.
- Experience or aptitude in equipment repair and troubleshooting minor issues to minimize downtime.
- Knowledge of calibration practices to verify equipment performance and accuracy in line with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Understanding of electrical safety principles related to medical equipment and adherence to workplace health and safety regulations.
- Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician or Central Service Technician program, or equivalent education and training (or willingness to obtain).

- Strong attention to detail, time-management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move equipment or supply trays within safe limits, and wear required personal protective equipment.
