Technical Writer

Location: Brantford, Ontario (In-person)

Salary: $65k-80k/ year

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Lorik Automation is an innovative leader in the automation industry. We design and build cutting-edge automated systems, robotics, industrial machinery for a wide range of industries and invest heavily in R&D to stay at the forefront of innovation.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team and play a key role in documenting our technology while supporting our SR&ED claims. In this role, you will create clear, concise, and detailed technical documentation, including operation and maintenance manuals for automated machinery. You will also be responsible for supporting the preparation of SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) technical reports.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Writing and editing machine manuals, and installation guides for custom-built machines and automation systems.
  • Collaborating with engineers, designers, and developers to gather technical details and translate them into accurate, user-friendly documentation
  • Preparing and organizing technical narratives and supporting documentation for SR&ED claims
  • Ensuring documentation meets quality, compliance, and regulatory standards
  • Working closely with project teams to stay current on R&D activities and product development

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Post-secondary education in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or a related discipline is preferred
  • A genuine interest in engineering systems, including technical drawings, schematics, and CAD files, with a desire to work closely with complex technical documentation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other documentation platforms
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written communication skills, including accurate and thorough notetaking
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently
  • A personable, team-oriented individual who builds strong relationships and enjoys working with others
