Position Summary
As a key member of the Manufacturing Team, the Plant Manager is responsible for oversight of the day to day operations. Will provide strategic and operational leadership for a 200,000 sq. ft. high volume, single shift Manufacturing operation. Plan, direct, and execute all plant operations to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Monitors and evaluates workflow and assembly methods and makes recommendations for process improvements. Oversees staffing, scheduling and training for production. Ensures manufacturing performance and quality goals are met. Prepares production, staff, and financial reports.Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead day-to-day operations of the plant in achievement of company business and financial objectives. Ensure manufacturing performance and quality goals are met.
P & L responsibility involving managing the BOM’s, personnel wages and incentive programs, and raw material procurement
Provide leadership for large employee populations in non-exempt positions and direct reports in exempt positions that both maximize and optimize resources in support of the company’s goals and objectives in serving customers
Monitor and evaluate workflows and assembly methods and makes recommendations for process improvements.
Build performance goals and ensure goals are achieved, through the proper execution of performance metrics as it relates to Productivity, Safety, and Quality
Partner with merchandising and buying team to ensure timely development approvals, production schedule fulfillment, and the optimization of resources and processes while operating within budget
Lead the organization’s Operational Efficiency initiatives; ensuring a data-driven and results oriented approach that supports successful execution of company strategic objectives
Educate department managers and team members in identifying key performance improvement indicators, targeting opportunities for improvement, adopting best practice processes, and successfully executing improvement initiatives
Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in workflow
Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures
Effectively lead and develop the Managers and employees utilizing performance management tools to enhance performance and achieve individual as well as company goals
Work closely with employees to communicate and educate on work instructions, policies, procedures, and process improvement initiatives
Standardization and share best-demonstrated practices as appropriate across any other Manufacturing sites
Ensure the company’s physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected, and utilized
Utilize process improvements to continually improve operational efficiencies
Assist in developing LEAN training classes and implement policies and procedures to improve manufacturing operations
Work cross-functionally with different direct and support departments throughout the broader organization to drive best practices and improvement initiatives
Lead company and department OKRs (objectives and key results) as required
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) or equivalent from four-year college in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field preferred. Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is preferred. 10+ years of experience in experience in a leadership position successfully building and leading 100+ member teams in manufacturing with a high volume of product coming in and out. Minimum 3 years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment. High volume furniture manufacturing background or equivalent is desired. Bilingual English & Spanish is desirable. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and AX system preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Certification in Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will manage the multiple teams within the manufacturing division. Develop and execute the company’s business strategies in order to attain the goals of the board and shareholders. Work to identify and develop future leaders for the organization through succession planning. Provide strategic advice so direct reports will have accurate view of the market and the company’s future. Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate. Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times. Communicate and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners, and authorities. Able to delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of direct reports providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance. Partner with the HR leadership to attract, hire, promote, engage and retain the workforce, including highly skilled roles. Responsible for overall engagement with team and ensuring and bolstering employee morale.
Position Hiring Range
The hiring pay range provides a good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage that Living Spaces expects to pay for the position upon hire. Pay will be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to: applicant's education, relevant work experience, knowledge, applicable and relevant skills and abilities, market demand, Company budget, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Compensation: -Overtime pay is available for eligible, non-exempt Team Members. Reimbursement for expenses as required by applicable law and Company policy. Retail, Guest Services and Distribution Center Team Members are eligible to receive team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPI's.
