Job description
Our client is a global leader in plant breeding that has expanded its Canadian business over the last decade by investing in the continued growth of hybrid rye across livestock, feed, forage, and end-use markets. To support this growth, the Animal Nutrition Specialist will help establish hybrid rye as a trusted, sustainable, and high-performing feed ingredient for livestock producers and the broader animal nutrition sector. This role will work closely with livestock producers, nutritionists, feed companies, researchers, and industry stakeholders to generate awareness, build confidence, and increase adoption of hybrid rye grain and forage across Canada.
Reporting to the Animal Nutrition Manager, you will:
- Provide technical support and extension knowledge to livestock producers, nutritionists, feed companies and other external stakeholders to promote hybrid rye as a feed ingredient.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities that contribute to the growth of hybrid rye within the livestock feeding system through articles, presentations, training materials, and other resources.
- Gather and communicate economic, production, and sustainability data that supports the value of hybrid rye in animal agriculture to support marketing, sales, and customer service activities.
- Conduct farm visits to support knowledge transfer and relationship building with external stakeholders.
- Provide grain and forage feeding recommendations for swine, poultry, beef, and dairy rations.
- Assist in the planning, execution, and communication of feed research and commercial demonstration trials to investigate and expand feed market opportunities.
- Collaborate with Canadian, North American, and global colleagues to share knowledge, best practices, and market insights.
- Maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders while serving as a trusted technical resource.
Your background includes:
- A Master's Degree in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, or a related agricultural discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience in livestock nutrition, extension, sales, marketing, or technical support.
- Strong technical understanding of livestock nutrition, feed ingredients, and diet formulation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to a broad range of audiences.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills paired with a data-driven and results-oriented approach to team collaboration and decision making across a national team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop technical articles, presentations, and research summaries: Bilingual, English and French, is an asset
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
This position requires regular travel (40%), primarily in Western Canada, with some travel to Eastern Canada, the United States and Europe, for industry events, meetings and corporate activities.
