Job Description

Who We Are

At MGT Commerce GmbH, we believe in building technology that empowers people and

strengthens communities. Our infrastructure team isn’t just keeping systems running—we’re

creating the stable foundation that enables innovation, creativity, and global impact. We’re a

group of passionate engineers who care deeply about open collaboration, shared learning, and

lifting each other up as we solve real-world problems together.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just love Linux and the cloud—but who sees

infrastructure as a way to connect people, support mission-driven teams, and enable

communities to thrive.

Why This Role Matters

This role is more than just managing servers—it’s about supporting the heart of what we do. As

our Linux System Administrator with AWS proficiency, you’ll play a vital role in building,

maintaining, and scaling the systems that our teams—and our users—rely on every day. Your

work will directly support developers, designers, content creators, and customers alike.

We’re not here to maintain the status quo—we’re here to make it better. And we hope you are

too.

What You’ll Do

● Manage and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance Linux environments

(Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS).

● Design and support cloud infrastructure using AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM,

CloudWatch, ELB, and more).

● Automate deployments, configurations, and monitoring using tools like Ansible,

Terraform, or similar.

● Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, Security, Product, and Engineering teams.

● Continuously monitor system health, performance, and availability, and resolve issues

proactively.

● Champion infrastructure reliability, observability, and security best practices across the

organization.

● Contribute to knowledge-sharing and documentation that supports your teammates and

future engineers.

● Support our culture of learning and community—through code reviews, internal talks,

and mentoring.

What You Bring

● 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Linux-based production systems.

● 2+ years of practical experience with AWS, including designing and maintaining core

cloud infrastructure.

● Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python).

● Solid grasp of networking fundamentals—DNS, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, load

balancers.

● Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

● Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.

● Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes a

plus).

● A collaborative mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of

ownership.

Bonus If You Have

● AWS certifications (SysOps Admin, Solutions Architect, etc.).

● Experience in open-source contributions or community-led infrastructure projects.

● Exposure to compliance frameworks like ISO, SOC2, or HIPAA.

● A love for teaching, mentoring, or leading technical discussions.

What We Offer

● A community-first, purpose-driven culture that values growth, diversity, and empathy.

● Opportunities to shape how infrastructure supports the mission of the company.

● Flexible working arrangements and remote-friendly culture.

● Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

● A team that celebrates learning, failure as growth, and wins as a collective.
