Position Summary
We’re looking for a collaborative and solutions-focused Process Engineer to support the reliability, efficiency, and performance of our laboratory equipment and processes. This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, offering the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams while maintaining flexibility.
In this role, you’ll provide technical expertise to improve equipment reliability and uptime, while contributing to safety and operational excellence through thoughtful design, layout optimization, and data-driven analysis. You’ll partner with Lab Operations, equipment suppliers, and engineering teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance overall performance.

What You’ll Do
Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement:
- Partner with Lab Operations, equipment suppliers, and internal teams to develop and implement reliability improvement plans.
- Monitor performance against targets, track risks, and develop mitigation strategies to improve uptime and efficiency.
Laboratory Design & Equipment Solutions
- Design and develop laboratory layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to optimize safety, workflow, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure designs meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Design jigs, fixtures, and benchtop electromechanical equipment to enhance safety, ergonomics, and process performance.
Procurement & RFP Support
- Provide technical input during RFP processes, including specification development, vendor evaluation, and proposal assessment.
Documentation & Operational Support
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including technical drawings, schematics, procedures, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Support additional engineering and continuous improvement initiatives that advance operational excellence.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in high-tech manufacturing, machine design, or process improvement environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- P.Eng designation (or eligibility) is preferred.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and exposure to scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python) is an asset.
- Familiarity with data analytics and emerging technologies (e.g., machine learning/AI) supporting predictive maintenance or process optimization is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
