IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY
Interim Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis
Reports to: EVP Corporate Services & CFO
Term: 4-6 months
Location: Ontario (Hybrid)
100% Virtual
Our client, a large and complex acute care hospital, is seeking an experienced Interim VP, FP&A to step into a critical leadership role during a period of significant operational and capital transformation.
This is a high-impact mandate focused on:
- Leading the FP&A function through a period of transition
- Delivering a credible 5-year capital plan
- Supporting clinical leaders through a challenging cost reduction cycle
- Finalizing the long-term financial plan (LTFP)
- Supporting financial planning for a major redevelopment / new build initiative
Mandate Overview
The interim will assume leadership of the FP&A function, overseeing a team responsible for enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to operate at both executive and operational levels:
- Executive leadership team, CEO, and Board
- Clinical programs and operational leaders
- Finance and decision support teams
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the FP&A Function Through Transition
- Provide leadership and stability to the FP&A team during a period of change
- Assess team capability, structure, and effectiveness
- Establish stronger planning discipline, governance, and financial cadence
- Support team development and performance management
2. Deliver the 5-Year Capital Plan
- Lead the development of a robust, credible multi-year capital plan
- Align capital investment priorities with:
- clinical strategy
- infrastructure requirements
- system funding realities
- Engage key stakeholders across the organization
- Define funding requirements, phasing, and prioritization
3. Lead the Cost Reduction & Budget Process
- Support the organization through a complex cost containment and budget cycle
- Work closely with clinical and operational leaders to:
- identify cost opportunities
- challenge assumptions
- ensure financial accountability
- Translate financial targets into clear, executable actions
4. Finalize the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP)
- Consolidate and refine the long-term financial plan
- Ensure alignment between:
- operating plan
- capital investments
- strategic priorities
- Clearly articulate financial risks, constraints, and trade-offs
5. Support Redevelopment / New Build Planning
- Partner with redevelopment and capital planning teams
- Lead financial modelling and affordability analysis
- Ensure long-term operating implications are understood and integrated into planning
6. Strengthen Decision Support to Clinical Programs
- Improve the quality and usability of financial reporting
- Enhance visibility of cost drivers and operational performance
- Strengthening the partnership between finance and clinical leadership

- Experience as a senior finance leader within:

- Strong track record in:
- budgeting and forecasting

- Experience leading cost reduction or financial recovery programs
- Exposure to redevelopment or major capital build initiatives
