<p>Legalist is a tech-enabled alternative asset manager that uses proprietary data-driven origination to invest in uncorrelated legal and government-payment assets. Founded out of Y Combinator in 2016, Legalist manages over $1.7 billion for endowments, foundations, and family offices.</p></div><p>We're hiring an <strong>Investment Counsel</strong> to help deploy our latest litigation finance fund. You’ll be joining a growing team of engineers, lawyers, and investment analysts to make real-time decisions in a fast-paced environment. <p><strong>Core responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Legal research and due diligence on investment opportunities</li>
<li>Preparation of investment memos</li>
<li>Real-time negotiation with plaintiffs and attorneys over investment terms and pricing</li>
<li>Training and working closely with the engineering team to translate legal knowledge into automation<br><br></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, History, Law or related field desirable or equivalent experience from a top-tier institution. </li>
<li>J.D. from an accredited top 20 law school</li>
<li>10+ years post-law school experience, including in a litigation practice at AmLaw 200 firm and/or comparable boutique firms</li>
<li>Experience with plaintiff-side representation, alternative fee arrangements, litigation finance, and/or in an asset-management environment are pluses but not required</li>
<li>Experience in several of the following areas: commercial litigation, breach of contract, antitrust, multidistrict litigation, employment disputes, whistleblower claims, corporate governance litigation</li>
