Job Description
Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers.. We are seeking a Chemist (High Throughput Screening) to work on-site at the National Institutes of Health/National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NIH/NCATS) in Rockville, MD.
This is a long-term contract position which offers:

KEY TASKS
(1) Support chemistry efforts surrounding reaction optimization and analogue synthesis to effectively standardize and optimize these workflows
(2) Perform chemical and biochemical reactions and appropriate analytical analyses
(3) Perform chemical synthesis and optimization of small molecule probes for use in biological research.
(4) Synthesize and optimize chemical probes for potency and solubility.
(5) Analyze samples using validated analytical methods for ongoing studies
(6) Validate analysis methods for the quantification of cell kinetics.
(7) Formulate chemistry plans for the development of soluble, potent, selective small molecule probes of biological function.
(8) Provide assay support and assay development for product release and characterization.
(9) Perform organic synthesis in support of the medicinal chemistry program
(10) Purify compounds submitted by chemists.
(11) Devise synthetic routes to target molecules; produce 10-100 member libraries with acceptable purity and deliver quantities to support biological assays.
(12) Perform bulk-synthesis, purification and formulation efforts for advanced testing in animal models.
(13) Prepare reports to include a summary of the samples (experimental or clinical), the modifications measured, and the results validated.
REQUIREMENTS
(1) Minimum of master’s degree in chemistry
(2) Minimum of 2 years of relevant laboratory experience that includes organic synthesis, small molecule chemistry, or medicinal chemistry.
(3) Experience using validated analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, affinity chromatography, LC-MS, NMR, UV-Vis) for sample analysis and method validation.
(4) Prior experience with high throughput workflows, reaction optimization, or chemical library generation preferred
(5) Familiarity with assay development and troubleshooting, probe development and optimization, and compound characterization for biological research or drug discovery projects.
